DIAZ SANCHEZ, Hugo Ernesto. Conceptualización y antecedentes teóricos de la competitividad internacional y regional: un asunto territorial. suma neg. [online]. 2010, vol.1, n.2, pp.91-104. Epub 30-Nov-2010. ISSN 2215-910X.
Competitiveness has been studied under different rubrics ever since political economics and firms were born; the use of the concept is subject of debate for its relation with several theoretical developments in management, economic geography and politics.
Objective:
To compare the perspectives, schools and authors that study the territorial competitiveness.
Methodology:
In the scholarly literature on competitiveness there are some conspicuous theoretical developments in international competitiveness from the Harvard Business School, the World Economic forum and the IMD business School; in systemic competitiveness from the German Development Institute and in regional competitiveness. The revision and analysis are based on papers classified in the international, regional and systemic competitiveness categories.
Results:
This paper arrives to the conclusion that the use of competitiveness as an analytical category for territories is scholarly legitimate, therefore its effects on strategic trade policy and regulation are legitimate too.
Palabras clave : Competitiveness of nations, territorial competitiveness; strategic political economy; economic geography.
