FERNANDES DUARTE, Erika et al. STRATEGIES USED BY NURSES IN THE PROMOTION OF BREASTFEEDING IN IMMEDIATE PUERPERIUM. Rev Cuid [online]. 2013, vol.4, n.1, pp.523-530. ISSN 2216-0973.

Introduction: Breastfeeding is a practice that brings many benefits to the mother and the newborn. This study aimed to identify the strategies used by nurses on the promotion of immediate postpartum breastfeeding according to the Brazilian scientific productions. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive study of an integrative literature review conducted in scientific journals present from the Virtual Health Library (VHL), which includes, among others, the databases SciELO, LILACS and MEDLINE. Results: Based on the established inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 21 articles selected from which originated three analytical categories. It is concluded that nurses have the most varied strategies to promote immediate postpartum breastfeeding, whether educational or inter-subjective. Discussion and Conclusions: It is observed that, despite the efforts from various health agencies, there are still barriers to the implementation of the recommended actions. There is an urgent need for actions performed by nurses to be registered with the aim of providing greater visibility to their praxis.
