This article is the result of a research project on the emergence of the Cuban Federation of Women (FMC, according to its acronym in Spanish) as an organization that includes women in the political project of the revolution. The FMC promotes equal rights and opportunities for women; works for the wellbeing of families; and creates awareness by carrying out educational, guidance, preventive, and social assistance community activities aimed at overcoming gender inequalities. The organization currently faces the challenge of responding adequately to the dynamics of the new Cuban society.
