Objectives: Describe the perceived health status of a group of homeless people and identify possible factors associated with perceived health. Dates and places of execution. This research was conducted in the second half of 2014, in the city of Medellin, Colombia. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted. Information was obtained on the characteristics of demographic, social, economic, context and perceived health behaviors of homeless people. The analysis included demographic descriptions of the population, and a bivariate associations of explanatory multinomial regression type. Results: 338 street people participated in the study, of which 82% were males, with an average age of 11.5±40.3 years and a predominance of single marital status, 71.3%. When they had health problems, 31.5% consulted; 17.5% reported feeling a worse state of health and 34% better perception. Conclusions: Worse health was associated with: begging, having had STD, alcohol, accident or violence and physical pain or unspecified discomfort; not knowing the type of relationship the health system was common to both.
