Resumen
CAMARILLO-ALMANZA, Daniela Guadalupe et al. Perception of sexual behavior and attitudes towards sexuality in old age Mexican adults. Hacia promoc. Salud [online]. 2023, vol.28, n.2, pp.82-90. Epub 18-Mar-2024. ISSN 0121-7577. https://doi.org/10.17151/hpsal.2023.28.2.6.
Objective:
To determine the relationship between the perception of sexual behavior of Mexican adults on attitudes towards sexuality in old age during the period August-December, 2022.
Methodology:
Correlational-descriptive study, the sample consisted of 586 adults between 18 and 59 years of age. The short sexuality scale and the scale of attitudes towards sexuality in old age were used to measure the variables. Both, descriptive statistics and the Spearman correlation test was applied.
Results:
The sample was mostly women, single and Catholic, with an average age of 25.61 years. When comparing the variables by gender, the perception of sexual behavior and attitudes towards sexuality in old age was significantly different (p<.001), with favorable attitudes towards sexuality in old age being higher in females and better appreciation of their sexual behavior in males. Likewise, a relationship was found between the perception of sexual behavior and attitudes towards sexuality in old age, that is to say, the better perception of sexual behavior, the greater the favorable attitude towards sexuality in old age.
Conclusions:
The results found point out the importance of proposing future multidisciplinary interventions to improve the perception of sexual behavior and attitudes towards sexuality in old age.
