Internationally, in 21st century education public policy agenda, comprehensive basic school formation for everybody highlights the need of a contextualized and interdisciplinary teaching -one closer to students' daily life, through thematic approaches to the curriculum development in Science. A Study Situation (SS) was questioned on this subject: «Chemistry in the agricultural activity» as a relevant social issue for basic education, due to its closeness to the Science, Technology and Society (STS) approach, and the conceptual meaning through thematic approach in the curriculum development. A Study Situation produced and developed in 2011 by professors-authors in the context ofthe initial Chemistry teacher training at UNIJUÍ - Universidade Regional do Noroeste do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) - was considered as the qualitative analysis object. It was recognized the potential of considering the STS approach embedded in curriculum development through the SS articulated to the teacher-researchers training, during their initial training.
