OLAYA-OCHOA, Javier; OVALLE, Diana Paola y URBANO, Cristhian Leonardo. On the PM 2.5 /PM 10 fraction estimation. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2017, vol.84, n.203, pp.343-348. ISSN 0012-7353. https://doi.org/10.15446/dyna.v84n203.65228.
We discuss the estimation of the PM2.5/PM10 fraction, which some authors report as the PM2.5/PM10 ratio. Previous studies highlight the importance of this fraction in the study of the impact of airborne particles on human health and their potential use in reconstruction and imputation of PM2.5 fine particle hourly levels from the PM10 coarse particle hourly levels. We suggest adapting the estimation process using different strategies for particular situations. We used the general linear model (GLM), the regression through the origin model (RTO), the generalized additive models (GAM) and the regression models based on weighted least squares (WLS).
