This article studies the socio-cultural environment in which homicide was committed in the city of Queretaro between 1828 and 1830. The purpose of this research is to analyze the causes of the felony, the action of the justice administration, the nature of the punishment and its relationship with the vagrancy. The study of the homicide opens a wide perspective about certain elements of ordinary life, customs and traditions of people who live in this city in a political transition. In addition, the way popular sectors were viewed from the criminal justice system, the press and the received punishment.
