Resumen
PINILLA-NAVARRO, Oscar et al. Microstructural characterization of titanium alloy Ti6Al4V thermally oxidized. Prospect. [online]. 2018, vol.16, n.2, pp.68-74. ISSN 1692-8261. https://doi.org/10.15665/rp.v16i2.1617.
The objective of this article was to analyze the effect of thermal oxidation on microstructural change and hardness properties of Ti6Al4V alloy. Titanium samples were subjected to a thermal oxidation treatment from 450°C to 850°C for 2 hours with slow cooling. The superficial morphology was analyzed by optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and hardness analysis. A TiO2 oxide film was generated with thermal oxidation, film that increased its thickness with the temperature. Additionally, this increment of temperature also increased the hardness of the material in 40% at 850°C compared to the material without treatment. The results also showed that entire rutile structures were observed on the surface of the samples from 800°C.
