Introduction: This proposal focuses on the maternal role, where the mother is a process of interaction and development. When a mother does her child's attachment, gain experience in their care and experience the joy and gratification of their role. Mercer covers several maternal factors: age, health status, father-mother and infant characteristics. It also defines how the mother perceives life events that influence the time to take care of your child with their innate characteris tics of her personality. Materials and Methods: Case report of a user with 30 years of age, attending the maternal and child unit by control of gynecology where obstetric ultrasound is ordered, which reports oligohydramnios, she is taken to surgery for male product extraction by cesarean. Discussion and Conclusions: It is important to emphasize maternal and perinatal care in the nursing profession's role exerted from various fields of action and at different stages of procreation. The application of this theory to clinical practice served as a framework for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care of the mother - child, helping to simplify a very complex process and thus facilitate understanding for its application in practice.
