Introduction: For social implication of maternal morbidity and mortality, is important to determine the need's factors that influencing use adequate of prenatal care in pregnant at Sincelejo. Materials and Methods: Analytical cross -sectional study, which included 730 pregnant women, selected by random cluster sampling in the city. The information was collected through demographic survey, a form of use of prenatal care and to assess factors need proposed by the Model Health Promotion Nola Pender. Pregnant women were contacted at their homes and replied the surveys. The data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics to determine associations between variables. Results: 97.7% (713) of pregnant women attending antenatal care, with a median of 4 prenatal visits. 2.3% (17) had not started at the time of the survey and 24.4% (178) made improper use. 80.7% (589) of pregnant women rate their health as good or very good, 94.8% (692) received positive benefits of prenatal care. Significant association between perceived positive benefits and proper use of prenatal care [OR = 5.5 (95% CI: 2.8 - 10.8)]. Discussion and Conclusions: The perception that women have about the benefits reported attendance at prenatal care, is the main factor that may explain the adherence to proper control and enforcement of the consultations.
