GARCIA ALCARAZ, Jorge Luis. Factors related with success of total productive maintenance. Rev.fac.ing.univ. Antioquia [online]. 2011, n.60, pp.129-140. ISSN 0120-6230.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) is one tool widely used in production areas, aimed at increasing the availability of machinery and equipment production and economic benefits of businesses. However, do not know the key success factors for it implementation. This article presents the results of a survey that consisted of 84 questions and was applied to maintenance managers and supervisors of companies located in Ciudad Juarez, which should be answered on a Likert scale. Exploratory factorial analysis (EFA) was applied to information through the method of principal components and a varimax rotation was conducted and found that only 3 factors could explain the 65,06% of total variance, related to managerial commitment, cleanup culture and integration of operators in maintenance decisions. We also performed a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to validate the results, confirming the findings in EFA.

Palavras-chave : TPM; critical success factors; factor analysis; structural equation models.
