The greater requirement of the clients in the fulfillment of the specifications of the products has implied that the industries increase efforts in the analysis and control of the characteristics of the product throughout its production. The multivariate statistical control is a tool that allows evaluating compliance with the specifications of a product when to determine its compliance it has two or more related characteristics. The objective of this article consists of the application of multivariate statistical control to measure the capacity of the manufacturing process of compression springs in stainless steel, taking into account that this product is compliant if different characteristics are fulfilled simultaneously. In this study, the multivariate control chart was used to determine the parameters of the process and then the multivariate capability index was calculated to check compliance. The results made it possible to show that the process in the initial phase was in control and was capable of complying with the specifications, but then in the second phase, a process with high variability and little compliance capability was found.
