BARCIA ANCHUNDIA, Johnny Xavier  e  MENDOZA RIVADENEIRA, Freddy Alain. Inclusion of whole pumpkin flour as a natural pigment in raising chickens (Coob500). rev. colombiana cienc. anim. Recia [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.2, pp.3-12.  Epub 04-Nov-2022. ISSN 2027-4297.  https://doi.org/10.24188/reeia.v13.n2.2021.838.

Pumpkin is consumed worldwide for its great nutritional properties, and for the great variety of products that can be made with this fruit, the main objective is to evaluate the inclusion of whole pumpkin flour (Cucurbita moschata) as a natural pigment in three stages of broiler chicken rearing (coob500) to achieve a better coloration in the tarsus at 42 days, during the pre-start, start and finish phases. The study was made up of 96 chickens of the Coob 500 line, a completely randomized experimental design was used, which were distributed in four treatments and four repetitions with 6 chickens each, called T0 (control), T1, T2 and T3 ; 15% of whole pumpkin flour was administered from days 21, 28 and 35 respectively, ending on day 42; on the other hand, variables such as feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, mortality and pigmentation were evaluated; The results of the analysis of variance presented significant differences (p <0.05) in each of the treatments; At the end, an average weight was reached between 5.62 kg to 15.11 kg per treatment; It is concluded that the best result is with the T3 treatment, verified by means of a colorimetric tape.
