POCHE, Fred. Ethical question of an ontology of difference. Disability as a social and political issue. Franciscanum [online]. 2017, vol.59, n.167, pp.151-170. ISSN 0120-1468.
What is there to see in others? How to avoid sorters trends that lead us to include a fixed or negative identity; a fortiori when it is a disability? How to articulate, from an ethical point of view, the necessary diagnostic of others' suffering with respect to the unfathomable nature and dynamic in their singularity? This article discusses, first, a set of questions about the distinction between difference, otherness and diversity. Such conceptual precision seeks better to think the problem of respect for others, by including them in a dialectic tension between the goal of objectification and concern for the reception of their uniqueness. Second, the limits of the «fragile» or «vulnerable», constantly used today to describe people living in extreme «poverty» or «disability» words listed. This analysis allows finally, think of a philosophical view able to redefine politics. This is specifically to understand the relationship between disability and citizenship based, not on defects or deficiencies, but taking seriously the ability of individuals.
