CAZETTA, FELIPE. Between Fascism and Salazarismo: The Path of Integralismo Lusitano to Radicalization. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2023, vol.50, n.1, pp.353-378.  Epub 28-Fev-2024. ISSN 0120-2456.  https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v50n1.100712.

Objective:

The purpose of this article is to analyze the influences within the Integralismo Lusitano, and how it established a relationship first with the 1926 dictatorship, and later, with Salazarism. Integralismo Lusitano emerged in the first half of the 1910s and was one of the symptoms of the crisis of liberalism in Portugal. In its first generation, it was characterized by anti-democratic zeal and had, as an alternative, the project of an organic monarchy, with extreme right-wing authoritarianism. This last characteristic remained, however, and the project of the first generation started to, rival the influences of fascism.

Methodology:

For this purpose, we used the periodicals Ordem Nova and Política, published between 1926 and 1931.

Originality:

The attributes highlighted by these magazines admit an analysis of the internal tensions and group efforts to establish a dialogue with similar currents and authoritarian projects.

Conclusion:

These periodicals allow us to analyze the process of conversion of some members of the movement from authoritarian conservatism to fascism, and the absorption by salazarism, perceived by other members of Integralismo Lusitano.
