MONTOYA BARCENAS, Diana María et al. Physiological response of Cratylia argentea (Desvaux) O. Kuntze seeds to storage and cryoconservation conditions. Acta Agron. [online]. 2009, vol.58, n.3, pp.167-173. ISSN 0120-2812.
On the cryoconservation cool rooms of the Nacional University of Colombia, Palmira, and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), the effects on germination of Cratylia argentea seeds (cv. Veranera ) of three moisture levels (10, 8 and 6%), the liquid N (LN) cryoperservation and two storage conditions were evaluated. The results showed high initial physiological quality of seeds and lack of any type of physical or physiological dormancy which drastically reduce germination on non controlled storage conditions. Germination decreased drastically when moisture content was reduced to 6% which mean the possible non ortodoxus behavior of the Cratylia seeds. For seed cryoperservation by LN inmersion during one month, the adecuate moisture content is 8%. Non differences on seed germination respect to the three moisture levels were observed when cryoperservation period had one hour of duration on liquid nitrogen.
