At an international level, it has been shown that acoustic pollution is one of the main environmental impacts affecting population and urban environment. Besides, the diversity of sources and sound intensity of this pollution greatly affects its control. Control and evaluation of environmental impact on roads infrastructure is relatively recent in developing countries and world trend points out at incorporating environmental impact studies in territorial ordering plans, and the availability of environmental tools allowing the development of preventive/corrective/follow up plans, programs and projects in order to identify potential sources generated by future urban projects on the environment. Due to the importance of acoustic pollution on urban environment, the Ministry of Environment, Housing and Territorial development, MAVDT, issued resolution 0627 of April 7, 2006, aimed at establishing noise maximum levels and making noise maps by environmental authorities. A noise prediction model of cars on the road is a tool that permits to determine sound intensity levels and to simulate several adverse and favorable situations that will be produced on a heavy traffic way or a modification to an existent way. In this study, a comparison of the results given by a theoretical model and a computational one will be carried out. This comparison will permit us to validate the theoretical model and to recognize the percentage deviation among its estimated sound intensities. A correlation between Colombian present normativity and another German normativity RLS900 will be established in order to know the existent deviation with legal permissible levels. Computational modeling will also permit us to predict the noise generated by the increase of vehicle flow and to give recommendations to reduce acoustic contamination in the urban sector.
