MORALES PANTOJA, Andrés José; ATIS ORTEGA, Karen Liseth e FAJARDO HOYOS, Claudia Liceth. Risk of Automation of Jobs in Colombia: An Analysis of the Determinants of Workers' Vulnerability to Technological Disruption. Rev.fac.cienc.econ. [online]. 2023, vol.31, n.2, pp.159-172. Epub 15-Dez-2023. ISSN 0121-6805. https://doi.org/10.18359/rfce.6723.
The impact of new technologies on labor market outcomes has been extensively studied worldwide. However, in Colombia there are few studies that systematically address this central issue for the future of our economy. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the proportion of workers with occupations at high risk of being replaced by technology in Colombia. It also explores the personal, occupational, and business characteristics that make workers vulnerable to the fourth industrial revolution. We use a Generalized Linear Model (GLM) to demonstrate that over a third of workers have jobs at high risk of automation. Nevertheless, variables such as educational level, job training, economic sector, among others, serve as significant factors that mitigate the negative impacts of technological progress on employment.
