DE ALMEIDA CARPANEDO, Felipe; COELHO PAGEL, Érica  e  NACARI MAIOLI, Ricardo. Daylight performance in Brazilian office buildings. Rev. Arquit. (Bogotá) [online]. 2024, vol.26, n.1, pp.181-200.  Epub 03-Maio-2024. ISSN 1657-0308.  https://doi.org/10.14718/revarq.2024.26.3371.

The daylight performance of workspaces is related to the transformation of facade openings over time. This research aimed to analyze the behavior of natural light in models of office buildings in the city of Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil. The methodology used was computer simulations through DIVA software in a workspace of buildings representing three periods: from 1950 to 1979, from 1980 to 1999, and from 2000 to 2016. The results suggest that the building typology from the oldest period shows better results in terms of useful daylight illuminance compared to more recent typologies. In terms of glare, the highest percentage of simulated hours in the intolerable range was recorded on the highest floor, with less sty obstruction. In general, the presence of an obstructed environment has a greater impact on the performance of contemporary buildings.

Palavras-chave : commercial buildings; obstructed building facades; daylighting; glare; computer simulation.
