The objective of this article is to present an overview of the notion of resistance from two points of view: 1. A documentary review of scientific articles that approach it, and 2. A proposal of categorization of the concept of resistance. It is concluded that: it appears more as a word than as a concept; that the major conceptual reference is Michel Foucault, and 3 forms of categorization of resistance are proposed: as a practice of self, daily and organized. The review exercise shows that expressions such as: "To resist is not to endure", "My body is a territory of resistance", "This generation has plenty of resistance", which in recent years are heard to harangue, name spaces and define practices by Latin American collectives and movements, also appear in books, articles and university congresses as a notion used in a stellar way, becoming common in academic and political discourse, but still with considerable challenges of situated conceptualization.
