PRIETO-BUSTAMANTE, Fernando. Estimation of effort in agile software development: Study of de current state in Bogotá. Iteckne [online]. 2020, vol.17, n.2, pp.110-131. Epub 01-Mar-2021. ISSN 1692-1798. https://doi.org/10.15332/iteckne.v17i2.2471425.
Over the years, numerous studies have been developed related to estimating effort in agile software development, which help us to understand the progress they have made and the need for their use in companies. The objective of the study is to know the perspective of entrepreneurs from different organizations in Bogotá who work with or are connected to the development of agile software and those who have had projects related to the subject. 314 surveys were conducted in the city of Bogotá, the main findings were: 1) For companies, it is extremely important to adopt an effort estimation methodology with 34%. 2) The most used estimation technique is the use case point with 43.31%. 3) The most used effort predictor is Code Line 38.85%, followed by STORY POINT with 33.76%. 4) SCRUM is the agile methodology adopted in companies with 43.95%. 5) The most determining factor to estimate effort is team experience with 53.50%. 6) In the percentage of error between an estimate of projected effort and actual effort, 26.75% of those surveyed determine that it is underestimated between 5% and 25%. 7) Finally, to estimate the effort of projects through agile software development, 26.11% of respondents recognize that the greatest difficulty is resources. In this way, it is concluded that the effort estimation is relatively variable, for many companies, this also depends on their particular needs; on the other hand, the use of agile methodology and estimation techniques varies in its use depending on the crossing that occurs between them and how they complement each other.
