Introduction: Aging produces irreversible cognitive changes that affect psychological, social, physical and emotional aspects; and therefore the quality of life. Objective: Differentiate between cognitive performance and the quality of life in older adults participating in a group of seniors contrasting with a group that do not participate in thoses programs. Materials and methods: A neuropsychological battery and a quality of life scale was applied to 36 elderly between 60 and 75 years. The sample was divided into two groups, each made up of 18 people. Group A refers to participants attending the elderly groups and group B those who did not attend such groups. Results: 368 patients with ischemic stroke and 63 (17%) with AF (54% male), aged (77.6 ± 10.25 years), hypertens Adults who participate in groups of seniors had better cognitive performance than those who do not attend; while the scale of quality of life, none of the dimensions differ significantly between the two groups. Conclusion: While cognitive performance differed between the groups, both were at a normal performance, there is no evidence of impairment. The quality of life was maintained in both, it was not demonstrated that cognitive changes affecting the quality of life and the importance of social inclusion and social networks as a factor that affects the psychological and emotional well-being of the individual is highlighted.
