The text presents an analysis of the relationship between market research, public opinion and sociology in Argentina. The diverse dimensions of the work of sociologists dedicated to the market and opinion consultancy: occupation's start, relationships with clients and employers, cooperation with institutions and academic peers, differences between market research and public opinion studies. It states that academic sociology, and sociology applied to consultancy tend to adjust to divergent guidelines, which limits the exchange between the two worlds.
