Objective:

The objective of the present work is to analyze to what extent the increase in the use of social media as result of the pandemic affects political participation and the way in which politicians are perceived in young adults.

Method:

The research was approached under a quantitative, descriptive, and correlational approach, in which through 27 items the political involvement activities of students and their perception regarding the trust they have for political actors were known. The population consisted of 900 students from different grades of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations.

Results:

It was found a relevant relationship was found between political participation and the perception of trust in political actors.

Conclusions:

Also, it was observed that the perception of trust of young people towards political actors is linked to the use of social networks, since the use of social networks is a key factor in the perception of trust in political actors.
