VINACCIA ALPI, Stefano; GUTIERREZ, Karol Vanessa e ESCOBAR, Maria Alejandra. Quality of Life, Resilience, and Depression in Older Adults in Monteria, Colombia. Divers.: Perspect. Psicol. [online]. 2021, vol.17, n.2, pp.51-61. Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 1794-9998. https://doi.org/10.15332/22563067.7079.
The increase in life expectancy is causing an accelerated growth of older adults in Colombia as in the rest of the world. The objective of this study was to determine the relationships between quality of life, resilience, and depression in older adults living in the city of Monteria, Colombia. A total of 100 older adults of both genders, with literacy skills and without cognitive impairment participated in the study. As measurement instruments, CASP-19 was used to evaluate the quality of life; CD-RISC 10, to evaluate resilience; and CES-D, to evaluate depressive symptoms. A non‑experimental cross-sectional design of descriptive correlational scope was used. The results showed high scores in the quality of life dimensions of control, pleasure, and self-realization. On the other hand, high scores in resilience and low scores in depression were also observed. There were positive correlations between resilience and the sub-dimensions of the CAPS-19 quality of life scale and negative correlations between depression and the sub-dimensions of the CAPS-19 quality of life scale.
