During the nights of September 9 to 14, 2020, it became clear how, despite the measures to restrict mobility defended by the local and national governments in the framework of the pandemic generated by the coronavirus, it is not possible to prevent the emergence of social mobilizations or stop the claims of citizens in the public space. In this sense, a large part of the citizens of the -unofficial but existing- metropolitan area of Bogotá took to the streets to demonstrate against the police abuse that led to the death of Javier Ordónez. With this context, this reflection article carries out a follow-up of the press, and a documentary analysis on social movements and urban space, which allows us to answer questions such as Why do these types of demonstrations occur even during confinement? What is being questioned? Where do they come from? How were they organized? Moreover, where are these expressions of citizenship headed? For this purpose, four points were considered. First, the contextualization of the political situation in Bogotá for September 2020. Second, the reflection on social movements based on two photographs taken on September 11, 2020. Third, an analysis from the theoretical framework of Edward Soja's spatial trialectics. Fourth, some conclusions have glimpsed that point to the relationship between citizenship and public space as a meeting point for criticism and the construction of new social projects.
