The partial results of a research project with a greater scope concerning urban mobility are presented in this article. The objective of this study was to analyze the quality of the urban public transport service (CASTPU) from the social perception in Culiacán, Mexico. Today's public service is licensed by the Government of the State of Sinaloa to various transport organizations, such as La Alianza, Minibuses Blancos, Chema, Palazuelos, Croc, and Grupo Ibarra. In Culiacán the mobility of the population in public transport is very limited as only 35% use it; instead, 65% use private transport. The research methodology consisted of a survey that collected citizen's opinion concerning urban public transport service, which is why the application of statistical methods supports it. During the research process, the sample size was first determined for a finite population, which corresponded to 320 respondents; then, a questionnaire with eight variables was designed; later, the questionnaire was applied; and, finally, we proceeded with the statistical analysis. As a general conclusion, the user citizenship rated the transportation service in the city of Culiacán in a range between good and regular.
