VIDAL-BENAVIDES, Ana Isabel; QUINTERO-DIAZ, Juan Carlos  e  HERRERA-OROZCO, Israel. Life cycle analysis of biodiesel production from used vegetal oil. Dyna rev.fac.nac.minas [online]. 2017, vol.84, n.201, pp.155-162. ISSN 0012-7353.  https://doi.org/10.15446/dyna.v84n201.54469.

Colombia has become a major producer of biodiesel South American level, making it necessary to study the environmental viability of this type of fuel using tools such as Life Cycle Analysis, which provides quantitatively the potential environmental impacts of any process in the whole production chain. In this research the production of biodiesel from used vegetable oil was analyzed in order to assess their environmental performance in terms of various categories of impact. They have been evaluated different impact categories, such as climate change and ozone depletion. Following the recommendations of the existing international standards for assessing the impact of the life cycle, a method of impact assessment which includes various impact categories used in this study. In the case of climate change, it was found that the stage that generates greater environmental impact is the transesterification stage, due energy and raw materials consumption.

Palavras-chave : Biodiesel; life cycle analysis; biofuels; used vegetal oil.
