GARCIA C, DIEGO JOSÉ. Moral Deliberation in Bioethics: Interdisciplinarity, Pluralism, Specialization. Ideas y Valores [online]. 2011, vol.60, n.147, pp.25-50. ISSN 0120-0062.

The objective of the article is to reveal the contradiction between the plural and interdisciplinary character of bioethics and the figure of the bioethicist or expert. Applied ethics, of which bioethics is a very developed branch, appears toward the end of the 20th century as a way of countering the challenges of new technologies in morally pluralistic societies. The core of bioethics is a civic ethic built on the basis of a deliberative process carried out in committees. This makes evident that moral competence is a concern of all agents, and contradicts the figure of the expert dedicated to resolving his own conflicts.

Palavras-chave : bioethics; expert; interdisciplinarity.
