This article examines how Cayetano Betancur's conservatism is reflected in his political philosophy. The first chapter includes two meanings of the term 'conservative' that encompass broadly, the two main tendencies of political conservatism. The second chapter is dedicated to analyzing how each of these two meanings (which we call negative and positive) are reflected in Betancur's work. At the conclusion we refer to the possible directions towards which a more exhaustive investigation of political conservatism in Betancur could be directed.
