VASQUEZ-VALDERRAMA, Maribel e SOLORZA-BEJARANO, Jairo. Functional grouping of plant species for the ecological restoration of mountain ecosystems, Bogotá, Colombia. Colomb. for. [online]. 2018, vol.21, n.1, pp.5-17. ISSN 0120-0739. https://doi.org/10.14483/2256201x.11730.
Mountain ecosystems are subject to various factors of disturbance, therefore different ecological restoration processes should be developed for achieving their structural and functional recovery. In this study, we analyzed the functional attributes of eight plant species used in ecological restoration research areas in Bogotá. Leaf area (AF), leaf area of dry matter (CFMS), wood density (dB), maximum height (Hmax) and growth habit of Ageratina aristei, Abatia parviflora, Baccharis latifolia, Myrcianthes leucoxyla, Solanum oblongifolium, Vallea stipularis, Viburnum triphyllum and Xylosma spiculifera were quantified. Three plant functional groups were found with exclusive characteristics of acquisitive or acquisitive-conservative species, suggesting different mechanisms and strategies of adaptation for the recovery of disturbed areas.
