GARCIARENA, Nélida Alcira  e  CONFORTI, Noemí. Performance evaluation of the school librarian in the agenda of the school principal. Rev. Interam. Bibliot [online]. 2011, vol.34, n.2, pp.147-155. ISSN 0120-0976.

A library is successful when it becomes the focal point of a school. To achieve this, learning environments should be flexible so that they can create work projects that are fun and inviting, reading habits, informational literacy, and the development of research groups and individual learning. Its quality is based on the continuous review and improvement by assessing the librarian's performance and his/her self assessment. The goal behind this is to identify areas that can be changed or updated for the benefit of the library's users. It is from this perspective that this article reflects on the school library as a subsystem of the whole educational organization and draws attention to some variables that affect the performance evaluation of the school librarian, this according to the guidelines of the Directorate General of Culture and Education in the Province of Buenos Aires. Because supervisors and advisors are not present in all of the different levels and types of education (primary, secondary, and tertiary) to organize and energize the school libraries it falls on the principal to evaluate the proposals and achievements of the librarian, a complex endeavor if he does not have the training to see it through.
