GONZALEZ-MONTESINO, Rayco H.. Accesibility and historical heritage: The specificities of translating multimedia cultural guides into a sign language. Leng. [online]. 2020, vol.48, n.2, pp.196-224. ISSN 0120-3479. https://doi.org/10.25100/lenguaje.v48i2.8953.
The right of deaf users of sign languages (SL) in Spain to enjoy culture and heritage has been improved with multimedia guides: devices that allow accessibility through SL and subtitling. The difference in modality between oral and sign languages requires specifying how to carry out an appropriate translation of these texts. The aim of this work is to determine the specificities of translation of multimedia cultural guides for the Deaf, taking into account the needs of this population. Drawing on case study, we analyse the translation of a multimedia guide, after adapting a set of translation techniques for written texts to SL. The results make it possible to describe some of these techniques and their inherent drawbacks, thus, facilitating the work of SL translators, which initiates a research line in this new area of inquiry.
