The aim of this paper is to study the use of the second person as a mechanism of ambiguous referencing, under the guidelines of the Project for the Well-spoken Spanish, both in its capacity of generalising and in that of masking the identity of the individual in question. This paper is focus on the different forms of treatment which the pronominal system offers in Spanish, their contexts and their usages.
