MOSCOSO LOAIZA, Luisa Fernanda e BERNAL CARDENAS, Carlos Yecid. Care and pain management in patients in post-myocardial revascularization. av.enferm. [online]. 2015, vol.33, n.2, pp.209-221. ISSN 0121-4500. https://doi.org/10.15446/av.enferm.v33n2.52477.
Nowadays, the relationship between acute postoperative pain and the appearance of multiple complications has been shown. Therefore, it is necessary the effective management of postoperative pain by the nurse. Objective: To generate a nursing care proposal for pain management in patients in postoperative myocardial revascularization, after extubation, based on the Theory of Unpleasant Symptoms. Methodology: From the Logical Framework approach, both the importance of pain management in patients in postoperative myocardial revascularization and the theory of unpleasant symptoms were socialized to nurses who work in Intensive Care Unit of a Health institution of IV Level in Bogotá. The evaluation format was developed in order to establish the factors that determined the pain, the pain symptom characteristics and consequences of the symptom, and then to establish the proposal of nursing care. Results: The experience of pain in nine patients in postoperative myocardial revascularization was assessed, finding that the presence of pain prevented mainly physical activity, effective cough and sleep, thereby causing a high level of anxiety, worry and fatigue. Based on these findings, eight nursing diagnoses and their respective activities are proposed. Conclusion: The appropriate assessment and management of postoperative pain by nurses allows adequate recovery and increased comfort and convenience in revascularized patients.
