The article examines the normative condition of Rational Decision Theory (RDT) as a tool to guide the action, analytical framework for normative assessment of action and theory for the explanation/prediction of the action and give account of their conceptual and prescriptive justification by means of instrumental rationality. The paper argues against the claim according to which the Kahneman and Tversky's Prospect Theory threatens the normative status of the RDT. The article also discusses some common and mistaken claims about the proper theoretical scope and application of the RDT.
