MEJIA QUINTANA, Óscar. Guillermo Hoyos Vásquez: A testimony for an intellectual biography. Nómadas [online]. 2009, n.31, pp.211-223. ISSN 0121-7550.

This article relates the intellectual and political work of one of the most renowned Colombian philosophers from the 20th century. It emphasizes his role in the spread in the continent of the Frankfurt School critical theory, especially the work of Jürgen Habermas. The political position of the tendencies exposed by Guillermo Hoyos joins itself to a long-term effort to articulate the philosophy with critical social sciences, as well as with the praxis of society. It concludes highlighting the work of Hoyos to consolidate critical thinking patterns in Colombia, by means of its controversies both with positivist knowledge perspectives as well as with postmodern thinking.

Palavras-chave : critical theory on society; Jürgen Habermas; Colombian philosophy; National University; Guillermo Hoyos; positivist criticism.
