In the context of the emancipation and the constitution of the new States in Latin America during the 19 th century, but out of the political projects of the time, women carried out their own signification projects in the field of gender relationships and the representation of the female sex difference. The aim of the research supporting this article is to look into some texts and contexts of the time in the light of the meanings women gave to them. Fragments of two of the most significant literary works of the late 19 th century are analyzed to settle a women’s history inviting to the ending of the Latin American colonial age.
