MONROY AMADO, José Luis e VARGAS VALENCIA, Luis Miguel. Comparison of health policy outcomes of the general population, with ethnic minority groups. Revista médica Risaralda [online]. 2017, vol.23, n.2, pp.58-60. ISSN 0122-0667.
The universal nature of fundamental rights, makes the right to health applicable to every citizen of the Colombian territory, but the cultural diversity in our country, has been a challenge for health standards and systems to be effective, in the Communities. The indices outside of the goals of infant and maternal mortality, as well as the high morbidity of these communities, are problems of difficult intervention. Differences in language, numerical systems, ignorance of ancestral customs, poor tolerance of interculturality, historical undervaluation of indigenous and Afro-descendant groups, and even the framing of subjective stereotypes, coupled with medical education based on European and North American models, which clearly leave the native population itself out of its standards and conclusions, has led to the promotion, prevention and health care policies not being successful.
