ARANGO-GIRALDO, Pablo Andrés. Analysis of the Working Conditions of Female Cooks in the Coffee Farms of the Central Zone of Colombia Based on the Theory of Nancy Fraser. Prospectiva [online]. 2021, n.32, pp.201-222. Epub 01-Jul-2021. ISSN 0122-1213. https://doi.org/10.25100/prts.v0i32.10772.
This article collects research results on the employment situation of rural female cooks in industrialized coffee farms in the South-Central subregion of Caldas (Colombia). Likewise, its objective is to characterize this work under the social justice approach proposed by Nancy Fraser related to maldistribution and misrecognition. The methodology used in the study is related to the qualitative approach, and particularly the biographical-narrative method, likewise the analysis was carried out using Grounded Theory tools. The results reveal that unfair working conditions prevail in Colombian coffee farming, associated with low recognition of work performed in the domestic sphere (in the case of meal preparation), poor or no economic remuneration, and the absence of a legal framework of employment in accordance with the reality of the rural women dedicated to this job.
