ALCALDE, Elena  e  GREGORIO CANO, Ana. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE DIDACTICS OF TRANSLATION: ANGLICISMS AND THEIR (UN)TRANSLATED VERSION IN SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT. Íkala [online]. 2013, vol.18, n.2, pp.59-67. ISSN 0123-3432.

In this paper, the need to create new terms in Spanish because of the products or processes related to softwares development created in English will be presented with the information provided by experts that were part of a discussion group. Furthermore, the reasons why experts prefer to use the English term before trying to seek an equivalent in the target language and the consequences that this has for translators will be analyzed. Conclusions suggest that teamwork needs to be emphasized from the very early stages of translation training in order for translators to combine their linguistic knowledge with experts'; thematic knowledge, so that they can together find equivalent terms in Spanish.

Palavras-chave : software development; English terms; professional translators; teamwork.
