PASINI, Leandro. The Poetics of Losango Cáqui, by Mário de Andrade: Temporality and Experimentarion in Brazilian Modernism. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.211-240. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v22n2.86091.
This article aims at piecing together the poetics of Mario de Andrade's Losango caqui, a book of poems conceived and written at the end of 1922 and only published in the beginning of 1926, in a partly revised version. Here I argue that the lack of editorial synchrony between the writing and the publishing of Losango caqui deformed its position in the temporality of Brazilian modernist poetry. Based on its critical heritage, I try to understand the temporal logic of the book, which was created in a moment when Mario de Andrade and his group were hastily absorbing the international avant-garde, with the experimental drive that characterizes the period from 1921 to 1924 of Brazilian modernism. Finally, I point out that Losango caqui's originality is due to its local refraction of the international modernism, which was achieved by a poetics connected to its own context.
