OLIVEIRA, Sara Lelis de. Cantares Mexicanos in Portuguese: Paleography and Translation. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.2, pp.479-488. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v22n2.86100.
In this special issue, dedicated to Latin American poetry, we would like to present to Brazilian Portuguese speakers and other interested parties a text in Nahuatl language resulting from the transliteration into the Latin alphabet during the colonial period of New Spain. This is the unprecedented translation into Brazilian Portuguese of a song [fl. 16v - 17r] of the Cantares mexicanos, manuscript kept at the National Library of Mexico under the signature Ms 1628 bis. The paleography of the manuscript in Nahuatl is by Miguel León-Portilla (Cantares mexicanos. México, UNAM 2011), and the translation directly from Nahuatl to Portuguese is by the author itself.
Palavras-chave : Cantares mexicanos; Náhuatl; Brazilian Portuguese; translation.
