VARGAS-GONZALEZ, Carlos; SAENZ, Ángela  e  BETANCUR, Héctor Darío. Can one be happy without God? An answer from the thought of Albert Camus. discus.filos [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.40, pp.113-131.  Epub 06-Mar-2023. ISSN 0124-6127.  https://doi.org/10.17151/difil.2022.23.40.6.

This research paper aims at answering the question of whether man can be happy without God from the philosophy and literature of Camus. To carry out this work, a hermeneutic method was used, since a dialogical and holistic approach to the works of the Algerian thinker was carried out to discover his thought regarding God and human happiness. The main results of this quest conclude that man can be happy without God to the extent that, on the one hand, he accepts the absurd and lives his rebellion and, on the other hand, he understands happiness as an ontological vocation beyond a state.

Palavras-chave : Absurd; Albert Camus; atheism; God; happiness.
