RAMIREZ-SANCHEZ, Valentina  e  CASTILLO-VILLEGAS, Marcela. Dramatic resources in The Apology by Socrates and The Banquet by Plato. discus.filos [online]. 2022, vol.23, n.40, pp.133-148.  Epub 07-Mar-2023. ISSN 0124-6127.  https://doi.org/10.17151/difil.2022.23.40.7.

This article highlights the similarities between Greek theatre of the 5th and the 4th centuries BD, and the dramatic aspects of The Apology of Socrates and The Banquet by Plato, arguing in favor of the philosophical nature of aspects such as staging and handling of the characters. To do this, the relationship between the work of Plato and that of the poets is reconsidered, shifting the focus of attention from his famous censorship to theatrical performances to illuminate his use of dramaturgical mechanisms articulated with ethical and political approaches. It is concluded that Plato uses resources from the Greek theatre but extrapolates and transforms them by creating a new type of drama.
