In this article, I want to analyze the ways of psychoanalytic constitution in Argentina, by means of the exploration of the native conceptions of what has been considered "psychoanalytic" at a certain moment. I analyze the spatial transformations of the most famous Argentinian psychiatric institution, the socalled El Lanús Service in 19561976, founded by psychiatrist Mauricio Goldenberg. I want to show how psychoanalysis was placed in the public hospital psychiatric service, how it established a difference with psychiatry and, eventually, how defined which aspects were considered "psychoanalytic".
