CASTANO-OROZCO, Cristian Sebastián. Horizons of meaning of the peasant territory and implementation of the final peace agreement in southwestern Colombia. Rev. eleuthera [online]. 2023, vol.25, n.2, pp.63-81. Epub 11-Jun-2024. ISSN 2011-4532. https://doi.org/10.17151/eleu.2023.25.2.4.
Objective.
To explore the ways in which peasantry configures horizons of meaning about the territory which challenge the territorial project conceived by government entities within the framework of the implementation of the Final Peace Agreement of Havana.
Methodology.
A case study was carried out in two municipalities in southwestern Colombia: Pradera (Valle del Cauca) and Argelia (Cauca), where brief visits to the territories, interviews and documentary review were combined.
Results.
Territory stakes linked to productive, cultural, environmental and organizational dimensions are recognized that allow peasant organizations to challenge the governmental logic of “integration” of peripheral territories to centralized power.
Conclusions.
The horizons of meaning over the territories, built from the peasantry, allow them to demand the recognition of their own practices that contribute significantly to the construction and implementation of policies aimed at transformation of rural territories.
