The concept of management model has been incorporated as management support in organizations. Given the particular connotation of institutions offering distance higher education (IESAD), this article has synthesized the characterization of the distance education's methodology, analyzing the problems involved; it also presents an approach to management model concept and finally develops a theoretical relevance proposal. The proposed management model for IESAD integrates the factors: organizational, academic, quality and external management, crucial to effective management in these.
