Resumo

This article, based on a study of school children and adolescents in the city of Medellín, presents the relationship between the risk of consumption and dependence on legal (alcohol and cigarette) and illegal (marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, inhalants, among others) psychoactive substances with the different forms of family organization and processes of authority, cohesion and communication between the parents. The findings indicate that there is a risk and presence of dependence on psychoactive substances in all forms of family organization and their dynamics.
